WHITIANGA / MERCURY BAY

The attractive seaside township of Whitianga is the main settlement of the Coromandel Peninsula’s eastern coast. With an excellent selection of restaurants, cafes, retail outlets, and a busy marina complex – not to mention over 40 beaches and almost as many islands within easy access.  Known for its deep water harbour, and as a departure point for big game fishing during the summer months, Whitianga owes it’s prosperity to tourism, fishing, and farming.  Buffalo Beach is just a short stroll from town and is ideal for swimming or sunbathing on its 4km stretch of white sand beach.

Whitianga is only 2½ hours drive from Auckland, Hamilton, or Tauranga, and only a short ferry ride to Ferry Landing, and a short walk to Front Beach and Flaxmill Bay.  Further on is Cooks Beach, stunning Hahei, and Hot Water Beach.
The township of Whitianga also features a unique maritime residential environment called the Whitianga Waterways. The sites are large to create idyllic home and garden settings combined with private deep water moorings. The convenience of canal front living with your boat moored at your door has no equal. Not having to drive to a boat ramp or marina gives the kind of freedom most boat owners can only dream of. Combine such freedom with access to Mercury Bay, acclaimed as the Coromandel's diving and fishing Mecca, and there is little else to compare.

We are sure you will find Whitianga and the surrounding Mercury Bay to be a truly spectacular place and come to love it as much as we do.
